Lizzie Zelter (b. 1996, New York, NY) is a visual artist whose work investigates the process of place-making by decontextualizing and disguising architecture of everyday sites. Zelter draws attention to interventions humans make in their surroundings, emphasizing idiosyncrasies in domestic, commercial, and bureaucratic settings. Engaging scale and perspective, she uses structures from our built environment as formal jumping off points.
She is the founder and curator at Two Rooms, an artist-run gallery and project space that promotes experimentation, critical thinking, and the creative process in the San Diego/Tijuana bi-national region.
Zelter holds a BA in Literature from Duke University and an MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University.
